Barney Fife made me laugh. He made millions of people laugh. His facial expressions and his voice when he would go off on a rant about law and order, or bragging about making his body a lethal weapon from studying judo through the mail were priceless! His run-ins with criminals ALWAYS ended up with Barney handcuffed and disarmed. Even the woman convicts had Barney and Floyd the Barber hostage up in the woods dancing and doing chores until Andy Taylor could save them. |

| Barney constantly argued with certain townfolk. He couldn't stand the crazy Ernest T., and he and Otis the town drunk fought like two children! Who could forget Gomer Pyle running after Barney yelling "Citizen's arrest - citizen's arrest!" Barney always had some crazy stuff going on! | |||||||||||||||

| Barney had a big mouth - he could NEVER keep a secret. When the FEDS had a secret gold truck passing through town by the end of the show the whole town came out for a parade to greet the truck - and I can't count the number of times he told everyone Andy was getting married to Helen Crump. | |||||||||||||||

Fife was a Deputy Lawman and he took that position seriously - way too
seriously! The episode where he had an old motorcycle with a sidecar on it, patrolling throught the town, frightening Aunt Bea and driving everyone crazy was hilarious. Then there was the time he had to disguise himself as a bride so Ernest T. would be fooled at a wedding ceremony. I enjoyed every episode! |
